Today, May 17, is Roméo Faubert's birthday. For those of you who do not know, there was a Roméo Faubert, and he was my generation's grandfather. His baptism record is to the left. The words "né ce jour" tell us that his baptism took place on the same day he was born, Le dix sept Mai. Note that his baptismal first name is Joseph. Roméo has signed his name as Romeo J. Faubert. Note also that his father, Charles Faubert, signed this document. Hence, this picture includes the signature of my generation's French Canadian great grandfather. The other signatures on the document, directly under Charles, are those of Roméo's godparents, Antoinette Faubert, and Aimé Pinsonneault. Roméo's mother was Rosalie Pinsonneault. The priest spelled Pinsonneault without the "e" but because a family member includes it, I will also. The year was 1889 and the place was St. Joachim in Chateaguay, now a suburb on the south side of Montreal. Just a bit of family history for you.
