Winter in South Dakota

Winter has arrived early in Rapid City.  Pat & I arose this morning to air temps of -23F.  It has warmed up now, though, to -12F.  Not much snow to worry about.  What snow is around is nice and crunchy under foot.  I have not seen temps like that here since 1989.  Updating our furnace this summer turned out to be a very good idea!

You win! We only hit -18F here in Denver. A guy from a little town in the mountains called the radio this morning and said it was -35F up there.

Stay warm!

We had wind and rain last night and the electricity went out for nearly 1/2 hour. High today was only 54. That's winter here. (Note that the high in Guadalajara today was 80!)

Good thing I got my Christmas lights up last weekend when it was a balmy 50 degrees. Hardly needed a coat. We wear jackets when it gets to 10 below. When it gets to 20 below, we zip them up (har-har!!)

Nena's father passed away on Saturday morning. He was in tough shape and is certainly more at peace now than he was during the last days of his life. We will miss him but are happy that he is in a better place.

Love,

Jerry
